Ulcerative colitis won this time…

Today was the worst day of marathon run I ever had. Now, I know that my UC is back. Remission has finished. Illness is in full swing (at least now I know that all problems I had on the courses was caused by me eating too much for breakfast or day before)… So, need to beat it again. At this stage I have increased amount of medicine taken, trying to schedule specialist appointment and hope for the best…

7 km into the run and again I was on the side of the road. Lost almost 20 minutes and energy. Pace went down from 4:45-4:50 min/km to 5:10-5:20 min/km and with every km was getting worse. Good thing that I didn’t need to use bushes again (these are very sharp, ouch). But I knew, my best would be 4 hours run and then I met Donna McLoughlin and Brian Ankers jogging and decided to chat with them (stole last drips of Donna’s water and got mini Bounty from Brian). It was before Maynooth, so we had still over 7 km to run. Nice company for last streach of the run. Thanks to Brian and especially to Donna for helping me on that difficult route and for uplifting my spirit… Anyway, Lock Up the Year marathon was a great run. Very demanding route, not for faint hearted and must say for really expirienced runners…

Thanks to lads from Le Chéile AC. Run was organized great, we even had a double-decker to get us to the starting line. And the hot tea was really tasty. Will get back there but will be more prepared for hard route on the canal…

I know that I was writing more when everything with my health was ok and when everything was going according to the plan. Now, unfortunatelly not very in the mood, but will try to overcome both – mood and illnes… Thanks to all of you and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015.

Just to tell you all what is wrong with me, please read on the wikipedia –> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulcerative_colitis

Just two pictures for now… Most of these will be from ‘Lock Up the Year’ Trail run group on the Facebook. You can find more pictures on Peter Mooney Flickr profile –> https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157647714256973

I suffer from Proctitis/UC as well, Currently have a relapse as well so I know exactly how gutted you feel. Things hopefully can only get better
