Good place to run but…

Medal

There is almost always a ‘but’… As I liked flat route and seeing Old Trafford I disliked the wrong placing of mile markers and the organization at the finishing line. Especially time needed to pick up bag you left before the start… Read more

New best FRIEND

New best friend - foam roller

Almost forgotten thoughts after injury…

Never believed in that, never liked it. My physio friend, Michal, was always telling me that rolling is the best thing ever for a runner. Physio who was treating me for my inflame chin muscle said the same. But of course I was wiser than all physio’s and all my friends… Read more

Thank you…

Thank you

Forgot that this post was in drafts, never published. So, please find that overdue post…

I would like to thank you for all your good wishes…

It is very hard not to be able to run as I would like to. After last year melt down I was already started recovery. Was starting 10 week of the running program to prepare me for running my best marathon in June. So, what has happened. Two marathons in Clonakilty and I felt small pain in my doing muscle. And that was just beginning of the story. 4 weeks out with injury. Great physio, good recovery. Was allowed to run one marathon during recovery. IBS kicked in doing run. Ohhh, bad luck. After that last session with physio and got the green light to start running. Was glad that it was over. Swimming and stationary bike is not the same. Hitting treadmill was like a blessing. 3 weeks without running, was really missing that. One run, 10 miles. Was happy. Worse came next day. 38 degrees fever. Almost one week in bed, flat. Just belly was growing (still is). Lost whole month of training. Not too bad but lost as well that to months of program training before that. Lost all fitness. So, I’m in the same place as I was on the beginning of December. Or maybe not, back then was little bit lighter and was able to run every day… Read more

What now?

Picnic area

Injury… Sessions with physio. No running at all. Just some stationary biking and swimming. But all that is not the same. I was walking little bit, not much cause muscle on the shin was still in pain… Read more

2016 Lilliput medal

First marathon in 2016. Still not ready or at least that how I feel. But I had to try. Try myself. And besides that there was AGM after the run. So, I was on the road again, driving towards Lilliput to see my running friends and to run with them. Lilliput is not even a hour drive so early morning and into the car. Morning was actually grand, not too cold and it wasn’t raining… Read more

Leonidas

Spartathlon – probably one of the hardest endurance race in whole World, definitely in Europe. Besides the toughness of the race that run is so nice. Nicest way to be introduced to ancient Greece, views and history. If finished you should run through Athens, Eleusis, Megara, Ancient Corinth, Ancient Nemea, Tegea and finishing in Sparta. But remember you still have to run alm Read more

Christmas time

Shining on with nice

Christmas time. Have spent that time in Poland. Glad that I have visited my Family there. Always good to see them. But will start from the beginning…

I wasn’t too keen on the Christmas visit to Poland. Don’t get me wrong. Time to time I need also to get back to Poland to see my Mum, Sister, Brother in law and nieces but not necessarily during Christmas time. Adding up my running form and mental state I wasn’t sure if visit will be enjoyable. Flight from Dublin. That was a disaster. I was so tired and all I wanted to do was to take a nap. just couple of minutes. But… it was so loud there. Kids were shouting, crying. Usually I don’t mind but this time, cause of Christmas, there was plenty of them and it looks like parents couldn’t handle them. Anyway, I was trying to get at least couple of minutes of sleep. Hoodie on my head, hands on the ears to block the noise but it wasn’t enough. Left the plane tired, half dead. And still had to drive first to my Wife’s Parents house and then back to my Mums. Another 120 km after horrible flight. Good thing was that instead of VW Polo we got A3 (too many cars broken), nice upgrade. First Chociwel. No delays on route, so we were there in less than one hour. After quick hello and goodbye I was on my way to Szczecin. Cause it wasn’t too late I have decided to visit my Sister first. Always better to get useful info before taking to my Mum 😉 we have decided where we will have Christmas Eve, where will be 1st day of Christmas and that I will take my Mum to my in laws for the 2nd day. All decided. After that visit was time to see family home, pass all information to Mum and decide how my visit to Poland will look like. I knew that I will need to continue my running, so already have found near by gym with treadmill. Days should be similar: morning run and gym, helping with Christmas. Of course that would change during 25th and 26th – gym closed. But that was the plan for those couple of days. In theory easy to follow… Read more

‘Daniels’ running formula’

'Daniels' running formula'

After breaking my body and as well my spirit I had to focus on getting back to shape. Fitness classes helped without a doubts but I need to do more to get back on track. This year I was running ‘like stupid’ trying to get into everything I could. Giving everything I had and not thinking about any recovery. 2016 will be quality time not just quantity. This year I want to get results, 100 marathons mark can wait… Read more
