Horror course…

If you running marathons with East of Ireland marathons remember that when Don Hannon will set the course it will be really tough… and it was. Today’s Roundwood marathon was really, really hard. 4 laps with at least 100 meters incline on each lap. Considering that I have always run just the flat marathons (Ballina one had just 170 meters incline all together) I would call this one a HORROR one. But having said that experience was really nice and I was very happy to finish that one. My GPS watch showed 4:02:21 when I have crossed the finish line but have to admit that I have to use the facilities after first lap so the official time given by EOI will be probably somewhere closer to 4:08… Read more

It has to be curse

Second run from Dublin series and I could not run… Instead of running on the streets of Swords I was lying in my bed for whole weekend with flu and fever of 39 degrees. It has to be some kind of a curse that I cannot run any of these Dublin series runs. Read more

My ponytail is famous…

I have just finished  Marathon des Escargots in Portarlington and was waiting for quick massage session when I was approached by somebody who just greet me like that – ‘I have recognized you by your ponytail’. That was little bit spooky. But after couple of minutes this guy has explained that he is working in Santry just opposite side of the street where I used to run over the lunch break. He told me that he felt ashamed seeing me ‘doing’ laps every day. He explained that there was one thing which you could count to see between 1PM and 2PM on the Old Airport Road and that was me. That was very nice. Somebody over 80 km away from home and 100 km from Santry actually recognized me. Funny, to be famous person in that part of city. As My Wife already called me – Santry Tourist Attraction. Had to unfortunately disappoint my new friend by telling him that I have changed to place of work now. His reply was funny. He said that sometimes he is driving via Ballycoolin and he would be very surprise to see me running so far during lunch break 😉 Read more

9 seconds less…

And I have run my second marathon now… This time it was in Ballina, Co. Mayo. Small marathon, just about 40 participants but atmosphere was great. We have met MCI members as well as organizers from Ballina AC. You can actually say that it was a family weekend not just a race. Read more

What a week…

That will be very short post…

What a week… Motherboard in our main PC at home just burned. Nice, now need to wait couple of months to replace it. And the beginning of the Dublin Series hasn’t went well for me. I have mixed days, it was on Saturday and I have somehow ‘encoded’ in my mind that it will be on Sunday, so I missed it. Last thing, but that is a regular recently, I’m very tired. Had to take day of today. Hopefully that will allow me to gather more strength towards Ballina Marathon. Read more

Books…

More than a year into running and I think now is the time to work a little bit on the technique and do proper running training plans… Time to ‘get a grip’. Clocking mileage will probably not work any more. Read more

Can’t be… Summer is here.

Hard to believe… 28 Celsius degrees and that not in the sun… Running is very hard. I had to shorten my runs yesterday and today. But I wanted to write about something else…

Can you tell me what you prefer to wear when there is BIG sun… either cap or pair of glasses. I have small problem with that. I think I prefer cap but glasses are giving you better view. Cap is keeping almost whole sweat out from your face but not allowing ‘face sunbathing’. Glasses when not proper can feel heavy after some time of the run… Read more

Dublin Series getting closer

<– Got that in the post today… That just means next 4 runs for me. Seems that Summer will be busy. Starting from end of June for next 4 months (always towards end of it) I will have one run from the Dublin Series. On the beginning 5 miles, month after 10 km, August 10 miles and finish with half marathon… Read more
