Tired as hell

For the first time in long time I’m feeling really tired and low…

Did my two training sessions during the day, one on the treadmill (usually that one is harder then on road one) and during lunch break run on the road (and that one was really tough, freezing rain and low temperature). Nothing special but I think that early mornings just cought up with me. I almost fall asleep in work, missed phone call from AC guy (which I have actually invited to check our faulty unit)… I couldn’t even start my excercises in the evening… Read more

Translation

I was asked to add translation button to my blog to allow these who doesn’t know English read the blog in different language…

But translation is as good as Google Translate unfortunately (not great) but it is there now. You can find it in the right side bar, just under ‘Donation for Cara School’. From the drop-down you can chose now Polish, German or French language. Read more

Isn’t that romantic…

Eating together

There is plenty to tell about that marathon. Not necessary great or good things but plenty…

First thing first. My Lovely Wife decided to surprise me and do the marathon in Clonakilty as well. So, this time I wasn’t alone on the 26.2 mile journey (I’m never alone, massive amount of runners is sharing experience with me). Cause Bozena didn’t want to slow me down she asked me to run with runners where she has started with early starters. Bozena started after 7 AM and me at 9 AM. New Clonakilty course was set on the about 12 km loops (you were running to beach and coming back) so that gave us opportunity to see each other couple of times during run. Cause Bozena was supporting one of the injured walker she end up walking the whole marathon and that gave me chance to catch her and Eamon (supported walker) with still at least 15 km to go. There I have decided that I will accompanied my Wife to finish line and we have walked together till the end. When I told that story to rest of the guests in B&B (as well runners) girls said that it was very romantic… Read more

Don’t slip now

Hopefully I won’t. New season is starting soon. Actually, I can’t say if there is another season or the running is just continuing… All I know is that main marathon race should be in Malta at the end of February, so it’s just over two months from now. And I need to get my preparation in order. No slip-ups now. Read more

Art O’Neill part 2 it’s really art…

…art of trail running. We were running today just one part of Art O’Neill route. I would say the hardest one (haven’t run the first bit – 30 km from Dublin Castle to Wicklow Mountains). Even that training was during day-light I found it kind of hard. Not HARD hard but still finding trail running much tougher than road running. Harder to pace yourself, harder to be sure if your feet will land on the steady ground or not. Another thing, especially now, is that most the time I’m comming back home soaked feet. And no matter how I would like to avoid streams, water, muck there is no way not to step into one of these or even better to fell into… Read more

Marathon just one step closer…

For some time I’m in process of planning marathon venue in Lucan. It’s not very easy but after couple of weekends of running in St. Catharina’s park I thing the route is starting to getting shape. Today’s run and I know how the half marathon route could look like. And it will be 3 big loop and one small. Each loop with 20 m incline, so not to bad at all. Route will go via park and to Leixlip (run via two counties) and through village back to park. Hope that we will have some voluntiers for running. Read more

Regular day in the office…

I wish I could say that looking at that picture… Unfortunately that just picture of gear after training session in Wicklow Mountains…

Really nice session with Trail Heads. Over 1.5 hours of running up and down the hills, avoiding (not too much) mud and muck and trying to keep your feet dry when crossing the rivers (didn’t work at all)… Must admit that on the beginning of the whole trail running I wasn’t great fan of that. But now I really enjoy it. There is small issue at the moment thou. It is my eye sight. If I’m not wearing contact lenses I’m blind like a bat and even best headlamp won’t help. Read more

What I have forgotten now…

Eat me

...hmmm. Let me see: - sleeves, - performance long sleeve shirt, - buffs, - pins.

That's it. I think. My bad memory is the only think which was not cool about marathon event in Lilliput. Rest was brilliant. Vincent Guthrie and whole gang put together really great race. Run took place in the near Lilliput Adventure Centre. Small lap on the beginning and after that 4 bigger ones. Route flat but some parts rough and after the day before and morning rain that wasn't too easy to run. At the end of the race you could see that calves of each runner were very, very mucky but that was the whole fun...

THE PLAN

Recently I was checking races for next year… which I can run, which I will need to pass and which I can run outside of Ireland.

I wanted to do maybe 4 foreign ones and the rest in here, in Ireland. Planned as well maybe 1 or 2 longer runs – ultra and that was already sorted out by My Wife when she have signed me into 50 KM run in Donadea in February. That was the plan. Quiet but still pushing me to get more marathon runs… Read more
