Afraid now… After weekend run in Clonakilty I was back to speed sessions… Was glad. Looks like I was able to keep the pace set in the plan. Only disadvantage probably is me training inside, in gym, on the treadmill. But still doing my best to stay on track…
Tuesday, after Clonakilty. 3.2 km in 4:09 pace, 2:30 minutes recovery walk/jog, again 3.2 km in same pace, 2 minutes recovery walk/jog and last tempo run 1.6 km in 4:14 pace. Cool… until last couple of second when I felt pain in my left hamstring. Ohhh, that was strange and very painful. I have just finished my speed session but knew that next day will take break. In fairness I thought that hamstring was gone. Was afraid cause in couple of days there was Donadea 50K run. Wednesday – rest day. Thursday, slow run. Surprising hamstring was ok, but… shin in the same leg started to give me problems. Was able to complete just 4 km. After that I was limping…
So, injured just couple days before nationals…
Can you suggest good physio, please?
Sounds like a problem with a nerve in the lumbar region affecting the entire leg. Very common. Most people think is a muscle problem, but the muscle is usually just weakened by lack of proper nerve supply. Are you getting weekly spinal maintenance? Correct alignment means normal disc wear and no nerve pressure.
By spinal maintenance you meant massage or core workouts? Thanks
Alan, no. Actual alignment maintenance to the spinal vertebrae like top athletes and teams have. If you’re not clear check out my website mate. http://Www.thespinecentre.ie
Wear and tear on a spine that is out of proper alignment causes disc trouble that affects nerve function that affects the muscles and entire body.
Hope u get sorted alan and back to pain free running soon
