Sunny breezy Clontarf

I have run that marathon couple of times already… and almost every time was different. This time was very sunny, quite warm, just that very cold wind was causing that everybody runner or not was shivering before the race (supporters have suffered little bit longer)… So, that was a run where I decided to put sleeves on the arms. And I was so glad that I did that.

No history really in that race. Few new faces, which is always nice thing to see new marathon runners. We have special guest – Gary Seery – who just came back from North Pole where he run the marathon. Mr North Pole gave us all signal to start marathon. I didn’t want to run it fast and had strange feeling that on some stage I will need to do pit stop. I wasn’t mistaken, actually that was double pit stop. But after that every thing was back to normal. Started to feel much better and the pace has increased. Two stops which cause that I probably lost about 5-6 minutes and I had to overtake some runners again and again. Funny…

Only situation which was standing out during whole run took place at the end of the run. Probably about 300 meters before finish line. Two lads running together (who I have already once overtook) were crusing towards finish and I felt that I have still some fuel in my tank, so decided to run on the grass for last 500 meters for them not to hear me. And seeing that they are not pacing fast decided to pass them by. Just heard in the back: ‘You are putting us in shame with such a pace at the end’.

And at the finishing line my lovely Wife was waiting for me… Best thing in the world.

Pictures from the day…
