And he’s gone…

Donadea DNF

Yep, that was the last words I heard during today’s Donadea 50K run… Unfortunately I have finished my race just after one lap – 5 km. After last week struggle with injuries – hamstring and shin splint I thought that maybe there is small, tiny chance of running… I was wrong. Read more

Afraid of…

Shin splint

Afraid now… After weekend run in Clonakilty I was back to speed sessions… Was glad. Looks like I was able to keep the pace set in the plan. Only disadvantage probably is me training inside, in gym, on the treadmill. But still doing my best to stay on track… Read more

Ground-hog day

Cool medals

Another day, same wind, same rain… Nothing has changed. Ohh, maybe one thing. Decided to start at 8 AM. Was checking the weather day before and it looked like same old, same old, with slightly better morning. Of course that wasn’t the case on the day… Was trying to convince Cezary to start with me earlier but Cezary woke up too late. So, I took under consideration start at 9 AM. But still wanted to have that crappy weather behind me and if there would be any chance of running without rain and wind I will take it. Besides there was still chance of me getting lost. So, running earlier more chances to see runners using proper route and follow them. Day before, tried 9 o’clock and got lost cause there was not many runners running behind me. Ok, 8 AM start. Was sitting with Cezary till 7:40. He was having his breakfast and I decided to run without him earlier… Read more

Clonakilty second attempt

First medal

And I’m back in Clonakilty… Second attempt to run marathon in here. As you probably remember last December run was postponed cause of the storm and floods. Hopefully this weekend will be better. It looks better now but not ideal. Weather forecast shows winds and rain on Friday and more winds on Saturday. But still they haven’t named the storm so maybe it won’t be as bad as two months ago. But needs to be prepared for all… Read more

3:26:55 – for now is good…

2016 Lilliput medal

First marathon in 2016. Still not ready or at least that how I feel. But I had to try. Try myself. And besides that there was AGM after the run. So, I was on the road again, driving towards Lilliput to see my running friends and to run with them. Lilliput is not even a hour drive so early morning and into the car. Morning was actually grand, not too cold and it wasn’t raining… Read more

Leonidas

Spartathlon – probably one of the hardest endurance race in whole World, definitely in Europe. Besides the toughness of the race that run is so nice. Nicest way to be introduced to ancient Greece, views and history. If finished you should run through Athens, Eleusis, Megara, Ancient Corinth, Ancient Nemea, Tegea and finishing in Sparta. But remember you still have to run alm Read more

Pacemaker 4.0 Man - NewLine

“We love runners no matter how long you run, how you run or with what purpose you run”- liked the sound  of that… Maybe there is a chance to be a part of their team. I know that I’m not a professional runner but I’m passionate about what I’m doing. And according to NewLine words that could be enough… Read more

And my name is Frank…

Medal for Make A Wish Ireland

and I will taunt you for at least 13.1 miles. Haha… That could be summary for my last marathon in 2015 and the first I have run on behalf of Make-A-Wish Ireland foundation. As I was landing in Dublin at 29th of December I have tasted Storm Frank. Little bit turbulences. But that wasn’t too bad. Trip to Armagh was really challenging. Wind playing around with the car on the motorway. Adding up rain and the trip was a ‘delight’. Anyway, thanks to Clive I had place to sleep before heading to Belfast next morning. Had a place to sleep but it was very hard to sleep when the whole house is shaking cause of wind and rain. So, instead of nice night sleep I had lousy 3 hours of a nap. Early morning, quick breakfast and off to Belfast. Still about 75 minutes drive and I had to have coffee before run. Cause I left before 6 AM there was no open shops at this time of the day. It was a rainy morning still. Not as windy as day before but as I was about to find out still quite challenging when running. I was at parking spot much earlier than I wanted. And actually could start at 8 AM with early starters. Have checked the weather and decided to opt out cause of the rain. It supposed to stop raining later. Now I know that early start wouldn’t be a bad idea. Maybe more rain for the first hour but definitely less windy. And wind for the first part of marathon, probably about 12 miles, was in your face. So, running first hour with less wind would be an advantage… Read more

Christmas time

Shining on with nice

Christmas time. Have spent that time in Poland. Glad that I have visited my Family there. Always good to see them. But will start from the beginning…

I wasn’t too keen on the Christmas visit to Poland. Don’t get me wrong. Time to time I need also to get back to Poland to see my Mum, Sister, Brother in law and nieces but not necessarily during Christmas time. Adding up my running form and mental state I wasn’t sure if visit will be enjoyable. Flight from Dublin. That was a disaster. I was so tired and all I wanted to do was to take a nap. just couple of minutes. But… it was so loud there. Kids were shouting, crying. Usually I don’t mind but this time, cause of Christmas, there was plenty of them and it looks like parents couldn’t handle them. Anyway, I was trying to get at least couple of minutes of sleep. Hoodie on my head, hands on the ears to block the noise but it wasn’t enough. Left the plane tired, half dead. And still had to drive first to my Wife’s Parents house and then back to my Mums. Another 120 km after horrible flight. Good thing was that instead of VW Polo we got A3 (too many cars broken), nice upgrade. First Chociwel. No delays on route, so we were there in less than one hour. After quick hello and goodbye I was on my way to Szczecin. Cause it wasn’t too late I have decided to visit my Sister first. Always better to get useful info before taking to my Mum 😉 we have decided where we will have Christmas Eve, where will be 1st day of Christmas and that I will take my Mum to my in laws for the 2nd day. All decided. After that visit was time to see family home, pass all information to Mum and decide how my visit to Poland will look like. I knew that I will need to continue my running, so already have found near by gym with treadmill. Days should be similar: morning run and gym, helping with Christmas. Of course that would change during 25th and 26th – gym closed. But that was the plan for those couple of days. In theory easy to follow… Read more
