When you know, you know

So running shoes, the never ending topic. A river of options… there is something for
everyone out there you just need what is it that you want, your goals,
preferences,etc.

When it was time for my first ever pair few years back I had an experienced runner to
guide me. He recommended a specialist store and they got me sorted. And that was
it. That simple.

Talked to store staff about my goals, preferences, experience so far and from all of
that NB was recommended and my love for the brand was born. Perfect fit, no
problems. Finished 2 marathons and countless miles in them.

This was many years ago.

After recent rekindling of my rendezvous with running a time came for a new pair and
the search began again. Initial plan was to get same pair of NB but try to find shoes
released 7 years ago, I dare ya.
And so, this time more confident me decided to hunt for new NBs. Went to running
store, tried a few options – mainly Hoka and NB similar to my old pair. 20min later
left with NB 1080 foam. Happy as a clam.

Took them for a spin same day on a road, all was good. Very comfy, soft sole, nice
and bouncy. No issues since. Small problem with laces as changed from regular to
rubber ones but quite sure returning to original will do the trick.

Not long after I ended up in another sports store (I run, hubby runs, sports store is
never too far).
Without any specific plan. Just looking around, checking out new releases.
Mid store found a long shelve with running and trail shoes…one thing led to another
and 10 min later I’m trying on 4 pairs – Merrell, NB, asics, Mizuno.

Not much excitement with the first 3 and all changed with Mizuno. Never thought
much of the brand other than Japanese made must be high quality and durable.
Putting on Wave Skyrise felt like putting on a fluffy cloud custom made for my foot. It
wrapped itself around it so even though I could see a shoe didn’t feel like I had one
on. Soooo comfortable.

And that is how I discovered a new found love for Mizuno. What can I say, When you
know you know.

You might be thinking didn’t I just buy a pair of new running shoes? Sure I did. As
much as I hated spending the money (again) my head (and heart) screamed “take
them, you’ll regret it if you don’t ”. Couldn’t say no to that 🙂
So how has it been since? Well, they were great in the store and… are fantastic on
the road and trail. Soft, light, snug. The perfect shoe. And not just for running but
walking too. So far money well spent, excited every time put them on and happy feet
(couldn’t resist).

Shows it’s worth trying as many options out as possible to find a few brands that
work.
You never know, might just find the best pair in a random store in the middle of
nowhere.
Off for a run, Mizunos are calling.
