…art of trail running. We were running today just one part of Art O’Neill route. I would say the hardest one (haven’t run the first bit – 30 km from Dublin Castle to Wicklow Mountains). Even that training was during day-light I found it kind of hard. Not HARD hard but still finding trail running much tougher than road running. Harder to pace yourself, harder to be sure if your feet will land on the steady ground or not. Another thing, especially now, is that most the time I’m comming back home soaked feet. And no matter how I would like to avoid streams, water, muck there is no way not to step into one of these or even better to fell into…
Regular day in the office…
I wish I could say that looking at that picture… Unfortunately that just picture of gear after training session in Wicklow Mountains…
Really nice session with Trail Heads. Over 1.5 hours of running up and down the hills, avoiding (not too much) mud and muck and trying to keep your feet dry when crossing the rivers (didn’t work at all)… Must admit that on the beginning of the whole trail running I wasn’t great fan of that. But now I really enjoy it. There is small issue at the moment thou. It is my eye sight. If I’m not wearing contact lenses I’m blind like a bat and even best headlamp won’t help.
Lost in translation…
Turn left then right then left again… OMG, I’m so bad at listening to instruction about the route. I know that it’s for my own good but I would like just run. Don’t think about where you need to turn, only make sure that you will put right foot infron of left and after that left infront of right. And you probably already guesed (or you have run with me in Sixmilebridge then you were informed about that even via laudspeekers during Sunday’s race) that I got lost. This time I ended up doing 46.5 km, which should be counted as my first ULTRA marathon. But start from the beginning…
Gargano Running Week
I wish I was there… But definitely will go next year and will try to do 77 km route.
My coach Don Hannon and some others from the club where there to run and they are delighted now. Below you can find Don’s report from that run. Enjoy…
Clubbing
For the first time I had three sessions of training with club in one week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Usual Tuesday run besides lake in Roundwood, Wednesday speed session in Greystones and Thursday hilly session near Three Rock…
First consultation
So… I have decided to join the runners club. It isn’t regular athletic running club, it’s more of a trail running club. Name of this club is Trailhead – http://trailrunner.ie/. Having talked to a couple of runners about Don (owner and running coach) and his philosophy I decided that it will be the best way to go. I had to talk to Don first and that’s what I did when I was there on Sunday (assessment) and today… Now I can’t wait for results.
