Last week my Wife went to ‘Amphibian King’ to buy running shoes. She loved hers New Balances 1080 (she bought those about 7 years ago – version 4) and guess what she bought another pair of NW 1080, just version 11 this time. I was with her in the shop and I was remembering times when I was going to similar shops to look for shoes or any other running gear…
And I have started to ask questions about shoes with carbon insole. I got that trill again. Obviously I didn’t buy those. Too expensive and I’m not even able to run for a half marathon distance yet. And still have plenty pair of shoes to run for now, to cover those miles. But, but… I was very intrigued. I was told that at the moment runners are choosing Saucony, Brook over Hoka shoes. Even that Hokas are the cheapest ones.
Anyway, no time for new shoes. But I did my research after. Had to know why version Carbon X2 is better than X. So, what I have found was quite nice, for me at least. Version X was mostly for midsole runners whereas X2 was more forgiving and toe and even heal strike runners should be ok with this shoe. And what was most interesting is that this is training/racing shoe. You can have fast sessions as well as slow ones. And if you would check other brands it is advised that most of carbon sole shoes are for races and fast sessions. So, shoes for me… Sometime in the future…
And future is now 😉 During holiers we went to running shop and tried Hoka Carbon X2 and they were great. They are not too wide as Cliftons for example. Very comfortable at least to walk in the shop. Can’t wait to try those bad boys on the road… Hope that it won’t rain tomorrow…
