Ok… First marathon booked now. For now only one and for fall next year – Amsterdam. Sorry… This is not true. I have just got spot in Dublin Marathon through ballot. I couldn’t just say no to that. At the moment plan for Amsterdam is for my Wife to run half-marathon and me full with my Cousin from Canada (hopefully covid will allow this). As my Cousin wants to run her first marathon I will try to help her out with that and if possible to get her to 4 hours. First thing is to get myself to fitness level when I can get full distance… I would like to get back to pace I was running marathons couple years ago but I know that I need to put much more work into it. But would be nice.
I don’t think I will be waiting till Amsterdam Marathon to be my first one and probably will run something in spring. Just looking for something new (country I wasn’t running in) or something small by Marathon Club Ireland. But for now I need to focus on speed work and stamina. I can see that I made big progress since I started to do weights and month later short run. Back then I was able to run maybe 3 km very slowly. Now I can go for half marathon distance. Much quicker but still not a great pace. But I can now do this. I can see progress between now and two months ago. I would like progress to be quicker but understand that it takes time and hard work to get to at least 50% what I was just couple years ago.
I can say that running program is working. Progress is there. Sometimes I have a feeling that I should be pushing harder but same time I know that slower days are as important as ones with long runs or intervals. Basically it was going very good till last week. And I have really now idea what has happened. Whole week was just bad. Wasn’t feeling 100%, was tired. Every mile run felt like 3. Cause running wasn’t great my head wasn’t great. I couldn’t sleep. Probably two trips to Dublin didn’t help. Slump. That will happen. Training will never go smoothly. If that would be the case training wouldn’t be needed 😉 Small steps.
Closest race – 26/02 – Ballina – half marathon… Have time in mind but don’t want to jinx it…
