Walking out the dog around 5:40 in the morning wasn’t very pleasent expirience. Temperature was below zero for sure – freezing… So, wasn’t looking like a great day for running marathon, but… No buts actually. Temperature will rise for sure later. Yep, it went up to hoping 1 degree Celcius…
9 AM start in Clontarf. Was quite suprise of the turn-out. Many runners, some new faces at least for me. New route, for me again, hybrid. Clontarf and Howth marathon put together. Just once run via beach, run towards Howth and do two loops there and back to Clontarf. Everything which is great from both routes: Clontarf – windy part (last 8 km strong breeze in your face) and sand run (was much easier cause sand was hard), Howth – two loops with incline of 160-165 meters on each. Combain these together add really low temperature, wind and that will sum up to marathon run on the 13th of December. But we are missing one thing… atmophere, all runners, marshals and run directors. Everything brilliant, hart-warming. That top-up temperature at least by 10 degreeses. Too be honest I felt the cold after I have finished and was waiting for Cezary to get through finish line. So, warm during run, cold waiting on finishing line…
I was looking to get 3:40 at the end of the race and hoping that stomach won’t act up. Got 3:34 but still need to stop for no 2 (without stop 3:31:10). So, without putting much effort I was able to achieve result I wanted. That has to be good and I hope that will be able to keep such a form till February. And freom there I would be able to build up for Ultras…
Same day, evening we wento to EOIM Christmas party in Howth. Was really nice to see fellow runners in civil clothes. Sometimes you can’t recognize them when they are not dress in the running gear. Plenty time to chat, fed with quite tasety fingerfood and awards for EIOM and DBRC members. And raffle at the end… guess what. I won free entries for all EOIM run for year 2015. Great… some savings made already 😉
No pictures from run. Me and Cezary have run and Bozenka was sleeping 😉
