There was so many marathons run on the Lusk East of Ireland Marathon series route. But there was always in the way. So, Lusk virgin, besides that suppose to be first part om my first back 2 back this year. Not really with the fitness levels where these suppose to be I knew that I could be for a challenge. A quite of challenge. But first things first…
I think that was the biggest marathon event I took part in which wasn’t official ‘big’ race. About 160 runners – half and full marathon runners. Nice to see fimiliar faces again (two weeks appart between last marathon in Ireland and frankly two months between last EOIM one). Two or four loops. Depends of the distance. Knew that it will be b2b so had to take it easy. So, that was the plan – 3:45 marathon. Steady and slow, just to finish and still have the strenght to go back next day and run another one. Done that before. OK, four loops for me. Slow… yes. Should be 5:20 minutes per kilometer. I don’t know what I was expecting running that course. Definitely wasn’t expecting almost 300 meters incline (according to Suunto watch). Runninng each loop I had strange feeling that there was just constant incline with especially one quite long without any downhill. I thought that it was just my expirience but there was couple of other runners. So not too easy…
Don was pacing lads from the club for 3:45 and my plan was to join them. Plan is the plan… and in my case always there is ‘plan’ to not to stick to it. And wasn’t different this time. According to watch marathon route was 42.42 km long and my avrage pace on that distance was 4:59 minutes per kilometer. I suppose to stick with lads from the club but… just something wasn’t right. Wanted to go faster. Passed TJ, finished after Liam and waited for the rest. And still in my head was the idea that I have another marathon to run next day…
And I had to get there – Limerick. Another over 2 hours in the car… Quick question to Cezary if the road shoes are ok. Confirmation – yes. Discussion with him and Mirko who will be ‘dying’ on Sunday after running Saturday marathon. Both said that will be them but… they have actually saved the strenght for next day, whereas me… I was tired…
Anyway, second part of back 2 back was on…
No pictures this time. Some in East of Ireland Marathon series album
