I have quite a number if books about running. From runners biographies to books about running technique. Most of those have some kind of the running programs – 80/20, Daniel’s method. Tried most of them. Tried to adjust them to my (then) current pace. I was always failing on creating program for myself. As a ‘mathematics brain’ I was always trying to follow program to the letter. So, this was my failure when I was getting something like – 45 minutes of running. It can’t be more vague. I can work with ‘easy’ or ‘very easy’ but not ‘some running’. I know that sounds like moaning but that is me…
So, I was very happy when I got first weight program from Mark. I was able to follow it and was able to see results after couple of weeks already. Then there was time to start running. On the beginning it was just to start moving. Jog, couple of kms. Then when I was little bit more confident I started to look for running coaches who can direct my training. I did little bit research and decided for person who I knew from my running times – Kevin English. Couple of years ago I was watching Kevin training hard and eventually reaching his goals. I was as well following him on social media and Strava. So, knew that he now focused everything on running and coaching runners. I knew that most of his runners are running quite fast and I will be one of the slowest but you need to start with something. So, I have decided to join Kevin’s program. And I’m very happy now. 10 weeks in the program now and I can see progress. I know it’s not much really but I was able to o long runs over 22 km, got half marathon in below 2 hours and 5 km in just over 23 minutes. Small steps but getting there. 2022 will be great for my running. I can feel this.
Oh… and will run Amsterdam Marathon in October.
