10% accomplished with a Friend

We had very nice weekend. Friends visiting us, my 10th marathon. But start from the beginning…

Last week Cezary, friend from Balina, who we have met when I have run marathon there called me asking if he can stay with us when he will be running marathons on Friday and Saturday. Of course there was no problem with that. He was comming to us on Friday evening after running marathon and on Saturday after both of us run another marathon we should pick up his Wife – Daria, with kids. That sounds like a plan so we had to put that into action… Read more

First back-2-back

Had to try it – marathons day by day. And there was (still is when writing this post) opportunity for me to do that. East of Ireland Marathons has organized event 10 in 10 – 10 marathons to be run in the 10 consecutive days. Of course I wouldn’t been able to run all marathons. Decided that I can try do two marathons in two days – day by day. The whole event is split between two courses. One in Howth, the other one in Clontarf. Runners are running on the Clontarf route in the odd days, remaining days in Howth. Because I wanted to do two days in a row I had to finish both routes. Read more

First consultation

So… I have decided to join the runners club. It isn’t regular athletic running club, it’s more of a trail running club. Name of this club is Trailhead – http://trailrunner.ie/. Having talked to a  couple of runners about Don (owner and running coach) and his philosophy I decided that it will be the best way to go. I had to talk to Don first and that’s what I did when I was there on Sunday (assessment) and today… Now I can’t wait for results. Read more

I was assessed

And apparently my fitness level is not too bad. It is funny feeling when you know that somebody is watching you during whole run. Checking if you can run uphill at full speed and repeat that. You are trying your best to show that you are not a wimp, but when it comes to proper ‘running coach’ you won’t hide your weaknesses and if you would like to show-off you just won’t be able . It is proper assessment, nothing will go unnoticed. Read more

And when you can’t go anymore…

… there is always somebody who will encourage you to run that extra mile (most of the time more than that). In my case it’s my Wife. Always cheering for me, always…

It was no difference this time in Craughwell. 30th of August and we were in beautifull county of Galway. This time route was splited into 8 laps, just over 5 km each. It was quite flat but when you run as I do it doesn’t make pin of a difference cause after about 20 km somebody if turning off the fuel knob. I don’t know how many times I have told to myself that I just need to keep my pace steady, not to fast, do not start too fast. But it is not working. I always starting strong and after 10-15 km I start to slow down, after half of the distance I just strugle to run. And again, nothing has changed with that… Read more

My Wife’s first

24th of August 2014 is significant date for My Wife. This day Bozena has run run her first marathon. It was in Longford.
That post supposed to be written by Bozena but she still hasn’t done that so it will be me… Cause Bozena decided that she would like to run in Paris marathon next April I wanted to introduce her to distance which will be waiting for her there. It is always easy to say marathon length is 42.195 km but how long time you need to walk/jog/run whole distance, how many steps you need to take to make sure that you will cross the finishing line. Are you really mentally prepared to take that challenge? All that is really hard, so need to try it first. That was the idea behind that to show to Bozena marathon expirience. Read more

Where is my fitness?

Went somewhere? Don’t know, but looks like it unfortunately. Not long ago I haven’t got a problem to run daily 30 km for 4 days and additional two half-marathons over the weekend. Actually, it was not even two months ago. And now? Now I’m struggling to run 23-25 km a day, morning exercise making my heart to run faster and demands from me more oxygen (that was never the case before) and last but not least getting big cramps at the end of marathon (last two)… Read more

20 to go…

Last weekend I have finished my 5th marathon. And like Roundwood one, this one wasn’t easy for me. I know that most of participants were running all 4 marathons in the Quadrathlon event and I admire them very much but I must admit that I was struggling… Again. Read more

New in stock…

Ok… Was very unimpressed with delivery on my new pair of NB 1400v2. Have ordered these over two weeks ago in my usual shop, but now look New Balance hasn’t delivered my model. And unfortunately after yesterdays marathon my pair of NB is in really bad shape. Would say that these looks worse than me now. Was hard to run in them yesterday, so from now on just walking them (to be honest, in that shape I don’t think they are  even good for that). Cause I need to come back to proper training after illness and that hardcore marathon I had to be sure that I will have shoes to run. Have checked second Amphibian King shop and again they have my shoes model but not in my size… Read more
